Snow Trips Victoria Itinerary
Why Visit Lake Mountain?
Lake Mountain was named after a vanished lake
The tranquil Alpine resort of George Lake, named after Surveyor-General George Lake, does not have a lake to visit but instead boasts a mountain. We offer transportation 120 km North East from Melbourne directly to the resort, eliminating the need for transfer buses or lift passes.
The resort is surrounded by miles of cross-country ski tracks and toboggan fields and has modern facilities for your convenience. You will have plenty of time to relax and enjoy the charming chalets with picturesque mountain views. The facilities include a restaurant and day shelter, a café, ski equipment, a retail shop, a snow sports centre, a ski school, and various other amenities.
A three-hour Snow Play activity is available
Individuals of various ages can partake in three hours of leisure, participating in pastimes like sledding, skiing through trails, walking in snowshoes, and even engaging in playful snowball skirmishes.
An alternative activity includes ascending to the peak of Lake Mountain, where breathtaking vistas of snow-covered landscapes await.
Experience a nature walk at Steavenson Falls
Later, a 700-meter stroll leads to Steavenson Falls, recognized as one of Victoria’s tallest waterfalls.
The Steavenson Falls, situated within the Steavenson Falls Scenic Reserve, is named in honour of John Steavenson, former Assistant Commissioner of Roads and Bridges. This waterfall is famed for its 84-meter plunge into the Steavenson River Valley and stands as the focal point of the 190-hectare reserve.
Since the 1860s, Steavenson Falls has drawn tourists to Marysville, celebrated for its unique charm and splendid natural scenery. The falls, comprising five tiers and descending a total of 122 meters, leave visitors marvelling at its majestic beauty.
Yarra Valley Chocolatiers and Ice Creamery to visit
Our journey back to Melbourne included a detour through the Yarra Valley to visit a renowned chocolate.
Head over to the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery for a treat to satisfy your sugar cravings. Here, complimentary samples of exquisite, handcrafted chocolates and other confectioneries are available. You also have the option to peruse their shop and select treats to bring back with you.
The Yarra Valley offers a picturesque backdrop of vineyards, rolling hills, and mountains for visitors to enjoy while roaming the grounds of the chocolate. Moreover, the region is celebrated for its wine-making, presenting an enjoyable experience for those who appreciate fine wines.
